Britney Spears releases 2001 song co-written with Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears has released “She’ll Never Be Me,” a song recorded in 2001 and co-written with her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

The track was originally made for her third album, Britney.

Spears and Timberlake dated from 1999 to 2002, and the song is among their few musical collaborations.

Its release comes ahead of a 25th-anniversary edition of Britney, due on November 6.

It is the first of five songs being released for the edition, which also includes a studio recording of a song first heard in a Pepsi commercial.

Spears’s 2003 single “Mind Your Business” was her most recent release before this track.

Her official Facebook page says more surprises are planned each week until the anniversary edition comes out.
