Brian Eno to relaunch Opal Records with two rereleases

Brian Eno will relaunch Opal Records on Friday, bringing back a label he founded in 1988.

Opal went on hiatus in 1991 and released work by experimental musicians including Jon Hassell and John Cale.

The relaunch will include two hard-to-find Eno albums, “Another Day on Earth” and “Drawn From Life.”

Eno said he is also considering a 12-album set of unreleased music suited to everyday activities such as reading or cleaning.

He said he is fascinated by AI but worried about who owns and controls the technology.

Eno also said “Music for Airports,” released 48 years ago, remains current and continues to sell.

Music for Airports” is such a stripped-down piece. It doesn’t really have many of those signatures on it.
