Zubeen Garg’s wife says bandmate’s bail could weaken murder case

Singer Zubeen Garg died while swimming in the sea in Singapore on September 19 last year.

A special investigation team later said he was murdered as part of a planned conspiracy, and seven people were accused in the case.

The Gauhati High Court granted bail to bandmate Amritprava Mahanta, one of the accused.

Garg’s wife, Garrima Saikia Garg, said the decision could weaken the case and questioned how a key accused was granted bail after what she described as a detailed investigation.

She and fans held a peaceful protest near Guwahati, calling for justice.

Assam’s chief minister said the government could not comment on a court decision while the case was before the courts.

The trial is proceeding in a fast-track court, and the chief minister said the government hoped for a good outcome.
