Turkish retirees’ January raise remains uncertain as inflation figures come in
Millions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in Türkiye are waiting to learn how much their pensions will rise in January 2027.
Consumer prices rose by 1.78% in July and 1.84% in each of August and September, bringing inflation over those three months to 5.57%.
The January raise is based on inflation across the full six-month period from July to December.
Forecasts put inflation for the second half of 2026 between 8.70% and 10.73%, but these are estimates, not final raise rates.
Applying those estimates to the current lowest monthly pension of 23,552 lira gives projected amounts of about 25,601 to 26,079 lira.
The final inflation figures for October, November and December are still needed to calculate the raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees.
A legal change may also be needed to increase the lowest pension, and an official decision on its final amount and start date is still pending.
