Writer says Stride’s step reminders help more than Google Health

A writer who restarted tracking daily exercise switched from Google Health to Stride, a step-counting app.

Both apps can track steps using a smartphone, but the writer says Stride’s reminders are less irritating.

Stride shows a live step count on the lock screen and in the status bar.

Seeing the count can prompt the writer to take a short walk to reach a smaller goal or get closer to the daily target.

The app also sends an evening reminder if the writer has not reached 8,000 steps.

The writer says Google Health offers more tracking and analysis, but finds its AI reminders patronizing.

Stride’s reminder time cannot be customized, which the writer says would make it more useful.
