Stone preserved traces of Neanderthal wooden tools in Spain

Neanderthals made wooden tools in what is now Spain.

Dissolved rock formed around the tools.

The wood later decayed, but the stone preserved traces of it.

This gives researchers evidence of tools made from a material that usually does not last.
