Family restores birdlife to island stripped by guano mining
Guano from seabirds was once mined on Lady Elliot Island for use as fertiliser.
The mining removed plants and drove away the birds that lived there.
The island stayed barren for more than 100 years.
One family helped bring it back by planting more than 20,000 plants.
Restoring the habitat gives seabirds a place to return.
