Pay transparency rules take effect in Italy as salary gaps add up
Since June 7, 2026, job ads in Italy must show starting pay or a salary range.
Employers can no longer ask candidates what they earned in the past.
The article estimates that starting at €30,000 instead of €32,000 can mean €10,408 less over five years, with the same role and raises.
That matters because each raise builds on starting pay, while wages recently rose more slowly than prices.
