Durazo warns Morena against candidates boosting poll results through paid media

Durazo warns Morena against candidates boosting poll results through paid media

At a Morena party meeting, Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo addressed officials chosen as coordinators for upcoming elections.

Morena uses surveys to select these representatives, saying the method should reflect public opinion rather than deals among party leaders.

Durazo said the process can identify candidates with local support, organizational ability and electoral strength.

But he warned that some winners may have raised their apparent support by paying media instead of building grassroots support.

He said such victories do not serve the movement and urged the coordinators to uphold its principles.

His remarks come amid tensions between Morena and its allies, the Labor Party and the Green Party, including disagreements over the 2027 elections.

Durazo called on both parties to help build coalitions, saying open dialogue could find common ground without erasing differences.
