Giant tortoise population on Seychelles island reaches 180,000

A new study estimates that 180,000 adult giant tortoises live on an island in the Seychelles.

In the 1990s, the island had about 100,000.

In the 19th century, the population was close to 1,000, so the rise marks a recovery from near extinction.
