Arc Raiders update brings Steam player count to a seven-month high
Arc Raiders, an online game from Embark, saw its Steam player count rise to 166,670 after its Frozen Trail update launched on October 8.
That is its highest count since early April and a sharp increase from a low of 10,000 in September.
The update added Pendola Pass, a snowy mountain map, new enemies and tools, including a grappling hook.
A free weekend running from October 8 to 12 also let newcomers try the game.
The game had previously fallen from a peak of nearly 500,000 Steam players and struggled to exceed 35,000 since July.
The new content has brought back some players, but it is too soon to know whether the increase will last.
The update is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
