Sheinbaum opens Rosario Castellanos University campus in Nicolás Romero

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum opened a campus of the National Rosario Castellanos University in Nicolás Romero, in the State of Mexico.

She announced that undergraduate students there will be eligible for the Gertrudis Bocanegra scholarship, which helps with transport costs.

She did not give details about the amount, when payments will begin or how students can apply.

She said 800 students enrolled for in-person study, while another 400 will study remotely because the campus cannot accommodate all applicants in person.

She announced plans to expand the university and build a Margarita Maza high school in the municipality.

The municipality provided the university buildings, while education authorities are to provide teachers and other resources.

Sheinbaum urged students who face difficulties that could lead them to leave their studies to seek help from their teachers.
