Hawi Feysa Defends Chicago Marathon Title in Personal-Best Time

Hawi Feysa of Ethiopia won the women’s Chicago Marathon in Chicago, defending the title she won the previous year.

The 27-year-old finished in 2:13:33, a personal best by nearly a minute and a half.

Sharon Lokedi of Kenya placed second in 2:14:07, and fellow Kenyan Brigid Kosgei was third in 2:14:55.

Feysa and Lokedi ran close together for much of the final stretch, with Feysa pulling away in the last mile.

Lokedi also set a personal best, improving on her previous time by more than three minutes.

American runner Emma Grace Hurley finished seventh in her marathon debut and set an American debut record, according to the account.
