Julie-Anne Staehli wins fourth straight Canadian women’s 5K title

Julie-Anne Staehli won the women’s Canadian 5K Championship in Montreal on Saturday.

She finished in 15:49, two seconds ahead of Makenna Fitzgerald, and claimed the title for the fourth year in a row.

Staehli has represented Canada in the 5,000 metres at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

In the men’s race, Quebec’s Matthew Beaudet was awarded the title, with Jean-Simon Desgagnés second and Liam Donnelly third.

Beaudet and Desgagnés were both officially listed at 14:18, so the reported times do not show the difference between them.

The championships were part of the Marathon Beneva de Montréal weekend and were held alongside a sold-out 5K race.

The account gives no further details about how Beaudet was declared the winner.
