Sheinbaum begins IMSS-Bienestar hospital visits in Hidalgo
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum began a tour of facilities run by IMSS-Bienestar, a public health program.
She visited a clinic and a hospital in Metztitlán, in the state of Hidalgo, with Governor Julio Menchaca.
She checked the facilities, medicine supplies and medical staffing, and spoke with patients and health workers.
The tour is intended to identify problems and hear concerns from staff as the government works to bring health services closer to families.
Sheinbaum has said she plans to visit facilities in all 24 states where the program operates and assess progress, including the rollout of medical appointments and digital health records.
The visit came as health workers were blocking roads in parts of Mexico City.
She said the tour would continue through December.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Governing means being close, attending to people and resolving problems. We continue working to guarantee the right to health for everyone. We are doing well and will do better.
I am going to visit hospitals, I am going to visit health centres to listen to them, to see what the problems are, what is missing.
