Argentina plans tribunal request to halt Malvinas oil project

Argentina says it will ask an international tribunal to temporarily halt the Sea Lion oil project near the Malvinas Islands.

Britain has rejected Argentina’s demand to stop the project.

The islands are claimed by Argentina and controlled by Britain.

The legal dispute could affect plans to begin oil production in 2028.
