Crested ibis spotted more than 300 km from Japan release site
A crested ibis was spotted several times in Shiga Prefecture, far from the island where it was released.
The Environment Ministry thinks sightings in nearby Fukui Prefecture were of the same bird.
It is the first time one has been seen more than 300 km from Sado Island.
The ministry asks people to watch quietly so the bird can settle.
