Veneto municipalities collected €111,000 through tax-evasion reports in 2025
In 2025, 26 of Veneto’s 560 municipalities sent the Italian tax agency reports about suspected tax evasion.
The municipalities received €111,000, half of the €222,000 recovered in the region through this arrangement.
The figures were compiled by the Cgia research office in Mestre.
The Cgia says the number of participating municipalities is low, and some provincial capitals did not take part.
Municipalities need detailed information and trained staff to make reports, but many have few employees and limited resources.
Local officials say they often focus instead on collecting municipal taxes, such as property and waste charges, which are separate from this reporting process.
Anci Veneto president Mario Conte said the association would encourage municipalities to use the opportunity, though he noted that not all have staff to devote to it.
Veneto municipalities collected about €111,000 in 2025 from tax-evasion cases they reported to Italy’s Revenue Agency.
The amount represents half of €222,000 in tax revenue identified region-wide through the reports.
Only 26 of the region’s 560 municipalities sent qualified reports, according to an analysis by the Cgia of Mestre.
The Cgia said the total was too low, while Anci Veneto president Mario Conte pointed to staff shortages and the resources required.
