Healthy reef sounds and bacteria linked to more baby coral settlement
Scientists played healthy reef sounds underwater in Hawaii and found more baby corals settled closer to the speaker.
The sound result is tentative because the experiment was run only once around one speaker.
Blocks coated with living bacteria attracted baby corals, while matching uncoated blocks had none.
These findings may help researchers find ways to encourage coral reefs to recover.
