LPGA Q-School second stage postponed because courses were unplayable

The LPGA Tour postponed the second stage of Q-School after rain left the courses unplayable.

The event was due to run Oct.

13-17 at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida, with more than 200 players expected.

Heavy rain caused washed-out bunkers, standing water and blocked cart paths, while one course was also dealing with delays after green renovations.

Q-School is a qualifying event for golfers seeking a place on the LPGA Tour, so the postponement disrupts an important step in their careers.

Players had already arrived and faced travel costs and lost chances to compete elsewhere, including some who had skipped a Ladies European Tour event to prepare.

The tournament has been moved to Nov.

1-6 to give course staff more time to prepare the grounds.

To confidently move forward with play under fair conditions, moving to Nov. 1-6 gives the staff the time they need to prepare the courses to the standard this competition deserves.
