Indian insurers reportedly weigh mandatory 10% health claim co-payment

Indian insurers reportedly weigh mandatory 10% health claim co-payment

A co-payment means patients pay part of an eligible medical bill, while the insurer pays the rest.

The proposal being considered would set that share at 10%, up to ₹5 lakh per inpatient claim.

It would cover cashless and reimbursement claims but not outpatient care.

Such rules can lower premiums, but may leave patients with larger bills when they need treatment.
