Kenny Habul plans to revive HDT with restorations and upgrade kits
Kenny Habul has bought HDT Special Vehicles, a business linked to Australian racing driver Peter Brock, and plans to revive the brand.
Brock ran the company from 1980 to 1987, when it produced more than 4,000 modified Holdens.
Habul wants to restore existing HDT vehicles and develop upgrade kits, a kind of work known as restomodding.
Prototype cars are being tested in Australia, Germany and the United States, but Habul says there is still work to do before a reimagined HDT car is ready to show.
He also hopes to establish an HDT headquarters in Bathurst, with a museum, workshop, showroom and factory, subject to talks with local authorities.
The plans aim to preserve the brand's history and develop new enthusiast vehicles, but no opening date or finished car has been announced.
