Indonesia and Egypt condemn Israeli actions against Palestinians

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the presidential palace in Jakarta.

They discussed regional and international issues, including the situation in Palestine.

Prabowo condemned Israeli military operations, violence and settlement building in Palestinian areas, and said civilians were suffering.

Both leaders backed a comprehensive resolution and the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Prabowo said Indonesia and Egypt would continue supporting humanitarian aid and the recovery and rebuilding of Gaza.

The two countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, defence, education, maritime affairs and fisheries.

They said they would promote an economic partnership agreement and a joint investment fund, but no timetable was given.
