Officials urge fishing boats to carry safety equipment

Officials met fishing boat owners to discuss safety at sea.

They said every boat should carry life jackets, lifebuoys and other lifesaving equipment.

Fishermen were also told to check weather warnings and avoid sailing in dangerous conditions.

The officials urged owners to install government-supplied transponders to help monitor boats and improve coastal security.
