Apple May Announce Home Security Partnership With ADT

Apple may announce a partnership with home security company ADT at an event in New York on October 13.

The announcement could come alongside a new smart home hub, a device expected to manage smart home accessories and offer features such as video calls and music playback.

Apple has invited media to an event called “Welcome home,” but it has not confirmed what it will announce.

ADT has hired low-voltage technicians in several US cities, and some hires say they have signed confidentiality agreements and received iPhones for work.

Some managers reportedly told the hires that their work would involve home automation and installation services.

That could mean ADT technicians install Apple’s hub or related accessories, but it is not clear whether the companies would also work together on home security monitoring.

The possible partnership remains a rumor until Apple or ADT confirms it.
