Google adds Samsung phone support to Googlebook features

Google is rolling out updates that let compatible Samsung phones work with Googlebooks’ Better Together features.

The support is for Samsung phones running Android 17 with One UI 9.

The features include continuing activity between devices, casting phone apps, quick access and syncing notifications.

Googlebooks launched without support for Samsung phones, leaving some owners unable to use these cross-device tools.

A Google Play Services update is also intended to simplify setup and fix a problem that can leave a setup QR code on screen after pairing.

The updates are expected to arrive automatically over the next few days, with rollout quickest when devices are charging and connected to Wi-Fi.

Both devices need the same personal Google Account, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, and compatible versions of Google Play Services and Cross-device services.

Some public or guest Wi-Fi networks may block the connection, so the features may not work on them.
