New York City begins installing smart public toilets

New York City has begun installing a self-contained public toilet made by a startup.

The first one described in the report is in Queens, near the Dutch Kills station on 39th Avenue.

Users open its door through a smartphone app.

The project aims to help ease the city’s shortage of public toilets.
