Court cancels health insurer’s $85,000 treatment bill for signal violation crash
South Korea’s health insurer asked a driver to repay about 85 million won for treatment after a crash in which he ran a red light.
The court agreed that he broke traffic rules but said that did not automatically mean he was seriously careless.
It considered the crash setting and the lack of evidence of speeding or drinking.
The ruling means the insurer could not take away his health coverage based on the signal violation alone.
