Brazilian police to give Supreme Court information citing justices in Master case

Brazil’s federal police chief, Andrei Rodrigues, is due to meet Supreme Court president Edson Fachin on Tuesday to share information from the Banco Master investigation that mentions justices.

The material was extracted from the phones of Daniel Vorcaro, the bank’s owner, and his brother-in-law, Fabiano Zettel.

At least six of the Supreme Court’s 10 justices, or their relatives, are mentioned in different ways, and there are also references to justices on Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice.

A previous police document included references to Justice Dias Toffoli, including alleged meetings and messages about payments and a family company.

That document was an information-gathering record, not a final report recommending charges.

Toffoli later stopped overseeing the Master-related cases, and Fachin subsequently closed parts of the document concerning a question of Toffoli’s impartiality.

Police say they will make the information available to the court, which will determine whether specific reports on justices should be prepared.
