Lula plans credit and debt measures for Brazilian entrepreneurs
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva plans to announce new credit lines and measures to reduce entrepreneurs’ debt on October 13.
The measures are being prepared by his team, and are expected to include decrees and a complementary law proposal.
Lula has said he wants to help people in the Super Simples tax system and individual microentrepreneurs, known as MEIs.
He also plans to support a bill that would raise the annual revenue limit for MEI status from 81,000 to 130,000 reais and allow MEIs to hire up to two employees.
The bill has passed the Senate and is being reviewed by a special committee in the Chamber of Deputies.
Its vote may come after the elections, according to the bill’s rapporteur.
The planned announcements come less than two weeks before Brazil’s presidential runoff.
