Tamil film Selvi sells out screenings after Busan premiere

Tamil film Selvi had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea on October 9, 2026.

The screening was full, and later showings at the festival also sold out.

The film is produced by actor Anjali Patil, who plays its central character, and is the directorial debut of Sailesh Rathnakumar.

It follows Selvi, a migrant home-care nurse working in wealthy families’ homes, whose shifts can last from 12 to 72 hours.

An incident from her past leads the story toward survival and the choices people make to protect themselves.

Selvi is one of only two Indian films selected for Busan’s Vision–Asia section, giving it a place in the festival’s international programme.

Its next international screening is scheduled for the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival.
