Rajinikanth says Jailer’s ending convinced him to make a sequel

Rajinikanth says Jailer’s ending convinced him to make a sequel

Actor Rajinikanth says he usually avoids sequels because he worries they may simply repeat what worked in the first film.

He had turned down proposals for Baasha 2 and Petta 2, including a Petta story that would have continued Vijay Sethupathi’s character.

He changed his mind about Jailer 2 after rewatching Jailer following its release on streaming platforms.

The first film ends with villain Varma warning that a larger network will come after him.

Rajinikanth said this gave the story a natural direction for another film.

Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

It is scheduled to open in theatres on October 15; no third Jailer film has been officially confirmed.
