Cacciari warns Italian centre-left against primaries without a shared programme
Italy’s centre-left coalition is divided over both its programme and who should lead it.
Philosopher Massimo Cacciari warns that primaries could make those divisions worse.
He says the coalition should first agree on clear plans for foreign policy and the economy.
Without a shared direction, he argues, it could struggle to govern even if it wins an election.
