Paris prosecutors seek inquiry into officer filmed striking student protester

Video from a student protest in Paris appears to show an officer kneeing an 18-year-old protester in the face while he was restrained on the ground.

Paris prosecutors asked France’s police watchdog to investigate.

The incident is among several alleged cases of police violence being examined during the student movement.

The inquiry will look into what happened and whether the officer’s actions were justified.
