Flash floods trap residents in two districts of Padang

Heavy rain triggered flash floods in Padang, a city in Indonesia’s West Sumatra province, on Saturday, October 10.

Flooding hit parts of Kuranji and Koto Tangah, with Guo Lapau Munggu, Lumin Park and Kampung Apa among the worst-affected areas.

The local disaster agency said residents were trapped and that evacuations were its priority.

A search and rescue office sent seven rescuers to the affected area.

Floodwater remained high in some places, disrupting traffic and making some roads impassable.

Lumin Park was also flooded during a similar disaster in late November 2025.

The number of casualties has not been confirmed, and evacuation work was continuing.
