27 people in Mexico state sentenced to more than 1,200 years in prison

The sentences were given to 27 people detained during Operation Swarm in Mexico state.

They include former officials and police officers convicted of crimes such as murder, kidnapping, extortion and forced disappearance.

Authorities say the operation has targeted links between criminal groups and public institutions.

It began in November 2024 and is continuing.
