Engel wins DTM finale as Preining secures second championship

Maro Engel won the final race of the 2026 DTM season at Hockenheim in a Mercedes.

Thomas Preining, driving for Manthey Porsche, finished third and secured his second DTM championship, after his first in 2023.

Engel needed to win to keep a chance of taking the title, but his race victory left him second in the season standings.

Preining started seventh and moved up to third within the opening corners.

His teammate Ricardo Feller finished second after Preining let him past on the final lap.

Bastian Buus, who started from pole, finished fourth, while title contender Marco Wittmann came seventh.

The race marked the end of the 2026 season, with Preining, Manthey and Porsche crowned champions.
