Indonesia’s anti-corruption commission detained BNPB secretary Rustian in a sting operation on Tuesday, along with 13 other people.

The group includes a procurement official, BNPB staff and private-sector figures, and was detained in the Greater Jakarta area.

The case concerns suspected procurement corruption within BNPB, the country’s disaster management agency.

Investigators said some purchases may have used disaster-response funds.

The operation yielded 1.4 billion rupiah in cash and gold as evidence.

Rustian has been a civil servant since 1998 and has led BNPB’s administrative secretariat since 2023.

All 14 people are being questioned at KPK headquarters in Jakarta, and the commission has not provided further details about the allegations.
