Police investigate alleged taxi meter fraud at Rio’s Galeão airport

Police are investigating claims that some taxis at Rio’s Galeão airport used a hidden device to raise fares.

The device could make the meter charge faster, and one reported ride cost 50% more than the regular fare.

Investigators believe it may have been fitted in as many as 200 taxis, but the claim has not been proven.

No one was arrested during the operation.
