Police chief says he was unaware of ransom for freed NYSC members

Twenty people travelling to NYSC orientation camps were kidnapped in Imo State and freed a week later.

The police chief said he was unaware of any ransom payment and credited security operations for their release.

Some parents said they paid the kidnappers.

No suspects had been arrested, and police said operations to find them were continuing.
