Brazil suspends Peptistrong supplement and orders all batches recalled
Brazil's health regulator, Anvisa, has ordered all batches of the Peptistrong supplement recalled.
It also suspended the product's production, sale, distribution, advertising and use.
Peptistrong is made by Biostevi Pharma and contains hydrolyzed fava-bean protein.
Anvisa says the ingredient had not undergone the safety assessment required for use in food.
The decision followed evidence that the product was being advertised and sold without that assessment.
This does not by itself show that Peptistrong harms health; the agency reported no associated health damage.
Biostevi Pharma says the measure is preventive and that it will provide technical and documentary explanations to Anvisa.
The suspension remains in place, and all batches are covered by the recall.
