Riyadh airport flights halted after Houthi attacks kill 12 and injure hundreds
A series of attacks hit airports in Saudi Arabia this week, including King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh.
Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for earlier attacks, saying they were retaliation for Saudi-backed airstrikes in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said the attacks killed 12 people, and Reuters reported more than 309 were injured.
King Khalid Airport has suspended operations for security reasons, leaving flights cancelled or diverted.
Several countries, including Australia, the United States, Britain, Germany and Canada, have advised people to avoid the airport.
Australia also advises travellers to reconsider trips to Saudi Arabia and to confirm flights with their airline before going to the airport.
US President Donald Trump said he was considering whether the United States should join Saudi strikes against the Houthis.
