São Paulo film festival pairs fermentation documentary with free kimchi tasting

The SP Food Film Fest in São Paulo is screening “Fermented,” a documentary about foods and drinks made through fermentation.

After the film, viewers can try kimchi, a traditional Korean fermented vegetable dish.

The tasting is free, and the film has sessions at Reserva Cultural on October 10 and at CCSP on October 13.

Tickets are handed out one hour before each screening.

The documentary follows producers and chefs in the United States and Japan as they explain how they ferment food and what the process means to them.

Fermentation was developed as a way to preserve food, and the film aims to counter the idea that it is dangerous because it uses bacteria.

The festival’s fifth edition continues through October 14.
