Grammys Keep Controversial Asian Pop Category Despite BTS Boycott

The Grammys will add a best Asian pop performance category in 2027.

BTS said they would not submit music for the awards and argued that music should not be divided by region or language.

The category requires a meaningful use of an Asian language, which could exclude some English-language songs.

The decision matters because artists disagree over whether a separate category gives Asian pop more recognition or sets it apart.
