German foreign minister seeks united European message to Moscow in Warsaw
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is meeting counterparts in Warsaw from Poland, Norway and the United Kingdom.
He says the meeting will show European unity and support for Ukraine as Russia continues its attacks.
The visit comes after US President Donald Trump made disputed remarks following a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including calling for Ukraine's president to be replaced.
Trump also announced a Russian diesel supply deal and plans to temporarily lift sanctions on Russia's energy sector.
Wadephul says the EU has adopted new sanctions targeting nearly 1,600 people and organisations linked to Russia's war effort.
The measures include people involved in ballistic missile production and companies supplying parts for Russian drones and aircraft.
At a Warsaw security forum, the ministers will discuss Europe's position amid war and rivalry.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said he would seek to show unity with European partners toward Moscow during a visit to Warsaw.
He planned to meet colleagues from Poland, Norway and the United Kingdom at a security conference.
Wadephul said Europe should increase pressure on Russia and remain united behind Ukraine.
He said the European Union had moved to impose its largest-ever sanctions package, targeting nearly 1,600 people, companies and other organisations.
