Calabria hiring-list proposal faces criticism from job candidates
A proposal before the Calabria regional government would extend and align the expiry dates of regional public-service hiring lists.
The committee representing eligible candidates for the region’s job centres says changes to the proposal have weakened it and left candidates without firm hiring guarantees.
It wants candidates to be hired directly from existing lists, a full 24-month extension and agreements allowing other regional bodies to use those lists.
The committee says a system of invitations and expressions of interest could make recruitment slower.
It also says the law should cover all current regional lists, have clear organizational reasons and funding, and take effect before lists expire.
The proposal is still being discussed, and the committee says it may be better to withdraw it if lawmakers do not make changes.
Other options under consideration include a separate regional amendment or seeking an extension through a national year-end decree.
A committee representing eligible candidates on Calabria’s employment-centre lists says a regional bill intended to extend and align recruitment-list deadlines could instead delay hiring.
The committee criticizes the bill’s current draft, saying changes have weakened it and left candidates without meaningful guarantees.
It wants direct use of existing lists, a full 24-month extension and agreements that allow regional agencies and other public bodies to recruit from the lists.
The committee says the bill should be amended or withdrawn if it cannot be made effective.
It is also considering a separate regional amendment or a national extension through the year-end Milleproroghe decree.
