Pertamina EP Rantau Starts Drilling Five Wells in Aceh Tamiang

Pertamina EP Rantau has started drilling five new oil and gas wells in Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia.

The work is taking place as the company recovers from flooding that disrupted its operations.

It says production returned to its earlier performance within four months and is now stable at 1,700 barrels of oil per day.

Two wells are in Tanjung Seumantoh village, while three are in Paya Meta village, both in Karang Baru district.

The company says drilling is intended to find new reserves and help maintain production.

Flood damage also affected the electricity supply and water facilities, so crews restored power using gas from other sites after the main compressor station was badly damaged.

The company says the five wells have been started, but some are still being drilled.
