Fraga wins at Fuji as Ohta moves within reach of Super Formula title

Igor Fraga won Saturday’s 41-lap Super Formula race at Fuji in Japan, his first victory in a full-length race.

The Brazilian started from pole and led for most of the race.

Kakunoshin Ohta finished second and increased his championship lead to 48 points, with Fraga now his closest rival.

Ohta drives for Dandelion Racing and is chasing the season title.

He can secure it in Sunday’s Fuji race if he keeps a lead of at least 46 points over his rivals.

That would give him the championship with two races still to come before the season’s final weekend at Suzuka in late November.

Zak O’Sullivan challenged Ohta for second late in Saturday’s race but could not pass him.
