Alejandro Hidalgo to direct Malaysian Hungry Ghost Festival horror film

“The Hungry One” is a planned horror film set during Malaysia’s 15-day Hungry Ghost Festival.

It follows an American woman whose family faces a vengeful presence at her husband’s family home.

The film is in pre-production, and its producers are still securing some of the money needed to make it.

Its setting draws on festival traditions that may be unfamiliar to many viewers.
