India’s Asian Games performance review moved to October 15

India’s Sports Ministry has moved its meeting with National Sports Federations to October 15.

The meeting was originally scheduled for October 13, but Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is in Ahmedabad for the BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Sports Demonstration Games.

Officials will review India’s performance at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, which ended on October 4.

India won 85 medals, including 21 gold, compared with its record 106 medals at the previous Games in Hangzhou.

The review is expected to examine results in badminton, shooting and athletics, where several experienced athletes did not meet expectations.

Injuries to hurdler Jyothi Yarraji and triple jumper Praveen Chithravel also raised questions about fitness assessments before the Games.

The meeting is now scheduled for October 15.
